Gram Gram Hologram!

We all like to click photos. But most of all what we see in the image is 2- Dimensional. Have you imagined a 3- Dimensional photographic image!!?? Is it a reality or not?? Yes, I say, a reality.

What is a Hologram?

The 3-Dimensional image which I talked about earlier is possible through Hologram. Then, what is a Hologram? It uses light scattered from an object to form a 3-D image.

What do we need for that?

We need a source of light such as a Laser, projector laser, beam splitter, mirror, lenses (diverging lenses) the surface on which we are going to display it and of course the object itself!!!! And what else is remaining? Ohhhh!!! We forgot the Holographic film!!! Otherwise who is going to record light patterns coming from the target object??!!

How Hologram works?

It uses the principles and the concepts of light waves. Basically, there is a beam of light rays coming from a laser light source. Then, this beam gets split into two beams using the beam splitter. These two beams go in two different directions. One goes towards the Holographic film reflecting off of the object ( object beam ) and the other directly hits the holographic film directly without reflecting off of anything but the mirror.

Then, the object beam passes through diverging lens to spread out the beam. Further, it reflects off of the mirror to direct them to hit the target. Similarly, the reference beam reflects off of the mirror and then mirror and then spreads out through diverging lens.

Once both the beams hit the holographic film, then, the film records the interference pattern of these two beams to create a 3-D image.

What we need to take care of?

The room in which we are displaying the hologram should be dark. You can switch on safe light for a little light , if you want to. Then, further, the surface on which we are placing the equipments should be working I e it should not vibrate.

Are Holograms used in our daily lives?

If we want to see the holograms, we don’t have to go anywhere. Look into your credit card, wallets , driving licenses. Many of these stuffs are equipped with a Hologram. Also, it finds applications in fraud and security, military mapping, medical, information storage and Art.

See you again!!! Till then, read more about Holograms, if you are curious to know!!
